WALKING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF GIANTS!
Rainbow Mountains – Referred to as “the mountain of seven colours, or by the local Peruvian inhabitants “Vinicunca“!
These amazing mountains are located in the Ausengate region of the Peruvian Andes. A spectacular range of different colours caused by the sediments & atmosphere. This also due to the close proximity of the ocean and the altitude, which is 7´972 feet (2´430 metres) above sea level.
The hike is arduous especially if you have not spent time acclimatizing to prevent altitude sickness. If the long hike (3+ hours approximately steep climb) puts you off, you can hire a pony for a reasonable price. One thing for sure, the walk surely clears your lungs!
I wanted to push myself on this journey to make sure I was keeping fit for the long road ahead!
I had plans to do some more travelling in Mexico once we arrived back, and for me another Mayan Ruins.
