Rainbow Mountains – Peru
Rainbow Mountains Peru – Referred to as “the mountain of seven colours, or by the local Peruvian inhabitants “Vinicunca“!
These amazing mountains are located in the Ausengate region of the Peruvian Andes. A spectacular range of different colours caused by the sediments & atmosphere. This also due to the close proximity of the ocean and the altitude, which is 7´972 feet (2´430 metres) above sea level.
The hike is arduous especially if you have not spent time acclimatizing to prevent altitude sickness. If the long hike (3+ hours approximately steep climb) puts you off, you can hire a pony for a reasonable price. One thing for sure, the walk will surely clears your lungs!
Getting Your Head In The Clouds!
This trek is deemed challenging even to the experienced hikers and climbers. I was very aware of this when I booked the trip, especially taking my daughter on such a journey.
I also booked the trip privately therefore providing an experienced guide for the day.
I had done my research and knew about the hire of ponies. So, I was sure my daughter was going to complete the hike, and enjoy the trip.
